After one year of post-secondary education, I began writing sports for the Thief River Falls Times, and I'm  still there.

Began dating Shirley in August of 1971 and we were married a year later. We have two sons: Charlie, who resides in his hometown, and Jeff, who enjoys the big city life of Chicago. Luckily for us, two grandsons are here in Thief River Falls.

Longevity has its rewards:

I was named to the Thief River Falls High School Prowler Hall of Fame, inducted into the Northland Community and Technical College Athletic Hall of Fame, received a Distinguished Service Award from the Minnesota High School Athletic Directors Association and presented with a Certificate of Service Award from the National Junior College Athletic Association.
