Roberta (Birdie) was born to Harry and Norma Templeton on April 4, 1951, in Two Harbors, Minn. She graduated from Brainerd Senior High in 1969 and married her best friend, Lowell Allen, on Nov. 26, 1976. Birdie worked for the Brainerd School District and Paul Bunyan Education Coop as a secretary for 32 years. She was a member of Nisswa Women of Today and a big supporter of HART. She loved playing cards and enjoyed going to Las Vegas and the Mille Lacs Lake casino. True friendship came naturally to Birdie. She made everyone feel as though they were her best friend. She was the most kind and loyal friend anyone could ask for. During her 7-year battle with cancer she was an inspiration to her family, friends and everyone she met throughout her journey. Her positive attitude and great sense of humor stayed with her until the very end.  Vibrant, empathetic and endearing are words that would describe this remarkable woman and friend! Roberta is survived by her husband Lowell Allen, her sister, Sheila (Dan) Cantrell and her beloved dog Boston. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, by her many friends and cherished nieces and nephews: Jamie (Pam) Templeton and their children Jeremy, Josh and Jade, Steven (Shawna) Cantrall and their children Steve and Allie, Heidi Hochstrasser, Dawn Marie (Donald) Hines and their children Kaitlyn and Jhonna, DeeDee (Tim) Schulke and their children Andrew, Jessa and Adam, Christi Milender, Derek (JoEllen) Johnson and their children Noelle, Miranda and Lexi, Dane (Cammie) Milender and their child Alexandra and David Tiegen. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Brainerd Lakes Area Food Shelf, HART or other local charities.
